Yes, I have a "coupon binder". It is a pink binder full of baseball card sorters. Each coupon gets it's on square, and I sort by my own categories: Baby, Bath, Canned, Cereal, Cleaning, Dairy, Frozen, Makeup, Meat, Pillsbury, Snacks, Everything Else, Other.
We get the Sunday paper each week, and on top of that I print coupons from online. On top of THAT my dad sends me his coupons from back home, where they get two or three of each set. (I'm lucky to get one.)
Yesterday I spent almost three hours getting my coupons chosen, printed, cut, sorted, and placed in the binder. Then I searched couponmom.com to find the best deals at Target. I printed my shopping list and waited until this morning.
After two hours at Target (830 am- 1030 am), two meltdowns from Emily, One 8.99 babydoll to placate the screamer, and well over 50 coupons I saved over 40% total.
Here's my easy breakdown:
Total Spent (Of sale items and couponed items): $155.54
Total Spent on items not on sale or couponed (baby, wasp spray, etc): $20.07
Total amount of coupons used: $62.90- This does not count amount saved because of sales.
4 packs of diapers. 2 packs of wipes. 4 packs of razors. three bags of chips, four bags of candy, gum, dryer sheets (62 cents), airwick flip n fresh (2) and MAN I LOVE THOSE THINGS, three boxes of pasta, juice bottle, juice boxes, one shirt, zyrtec, shampoo, 2 pack of toothpaste, deodorant, facewash, revlon eyelash curler (free), revlon nail clipper (13 cents), cheese sticks x2, pads, 5 rolls of paper towels, 12 rolls of cottenelle tp, 3 boxes pop tarts, bread, etc.
I did not over buy. I did not get anything that we will not use or donate (Ronald McDonald house has a special place in our hearts).
As I checked out, I handed my MASSIVE pile of coupons to the cashier. A lady an asile over looked at me and said "Oh my gosh, are you couponing?!" I said, yes. She said, "I've never seen that in real life!"
=)
5 hours spent.
Probably around $100 total saved (coupons/ sale prices).
I made $20/ hour.
Not bad for a stay at home mom.
